COLAYCO FINANCIAL EDUCATION

The Colayco Foundation for Education (CFE) continues to be a prime mover of the financial literacy movement in the country. In 2003, it started promoting the need for financial education among ordinary income earners, students, migrant workers and their families. CFE delivers its advocacy in all forms of media: bestseller books, seminars, workshops, TV and radio programs and the Internet. These have opened and continue to open the minds of millions of Filipinos on the need to save and grow their savings to prepare a secure future for themselves, their families and their community. This is the Foundation's modest contribution to nation building.

CFE propagates this advocacy through the conduct of financial education seminars for employees of various institutions and corporations, members of business, trade and community organizations, Filipino contract workers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Spain, and students in major universities across the Philippines.

As the spokesman of this advocacy, Mr. Colayco provides his insights on financial issues affecting the public through various mass media, by appearing in over 600 TV and radio news programs and talkshows, conducting over 100 newspaper and magazine interviews, and by writing over 400 articles in the last 5 years. Today he still writes regular columns in Bulgar (a major Tagalog tabloid), Manila Bulletin (a major English newspaper), Good Housekeeping magazine (Philippine edition), SME.COM.PH magazine (a publication of Plantersbank for its small & medium enterprises network), gmanews.tv (online portal of the GMA News network), goodnewspilipinas.com (a website owned and operated by BBC News business news anchor/correspondent Rico Hizon), Kabayan News (a major publication for overseas Filipinos in Italy and Spain), Illustrado magazine (a major Middle East publication for overseas Filipinos based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and many others.
